FDLE raided Mark Stopa’s former law firm in August 2018. Since then, Stopa has also lost his law license for screaming at judges and ripping off his former clients in an equity skimming scam. To top it off, Stopa’s self-aggrandizing book flopped.
After the Florida Bar officially revoked his law license 2019, Stop also filed nearly 20 frivolous lawsuits against his critics. He has lost all but one which is still pending. Ironically, in his book, he claims the Tampa Bay Times and the mortgage industry colluded to have him disbarred. Yet, the Tampa Bay Times is the only media outlet Stopa didn’t sue. Stopa still has not been indicted. FDLE and the Florida Attorney General’s Office say they are actively investigating Stopa. They also claim they are actively building a case against him.
